Bentley showed the new 2012 Continental GT V8 at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, which will be sold along side the GTC V8, (Convertible) and the W12 Continental GT models.
Performance.
The 2012 Bentley Continental GT V8 is equipped with a compact 4.0L twin turbocharged V8 that produces 500 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque. This new Continental GT V8 is capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds and has a top speed of 188 mph.
Technology.
The 2012 Bentley Continental GT V8 uses a cylinder deactivation system. When the driver maintains speed or decelerates the engine automatically drops to four cylinders. Once the driver apply throttle to accelerate, eight cylinder power is restored seamlessly. Thanks to this cylinder deactivation system, the Continental GT V8 is able to achieve 21 mpg despite it’s extremely powerful engine and heavy curb weight.
